Cuba's Geography


Cuba is located in the Caribbean. It is an island between the Caribbean Sea and the north Atlantic Ocean. It is only 150 km south of the tip of Florida and is said to be slightly smaller than the size of Pennsylvania. Cuba is the largest country in the Caribbean and is considered the westernmost island of the Greater Antilles.

The capital of Cuba is Havana.

The climate of Cuba is tropical and moderated by trade winds. It has a dry season (November to April) and a rainy season (May to October).
Its terrain is mostly flat to rolling plains with rugged hills and mountains in the southeast.

The east coast however, is subject to hurricanes from (generally) August to November.

The country usually has at least one hurricane every other year and aside from that droughts are also common.Cuba also suffers from water and air pollution, biodiversity loss and deforestation.

It's natural resources are:
Cobalt, nickel, iron ore, chromium, copper, salt, timber, silica, petroleum, and fertile land.
